Center Included in 2014 Crain's List Largest Money Managers
For the second consecutive year, Center for Financial Planning has been recognized as one of the Detroit area's largest money managers in Crain’s Book of Lists. Crain's list is a compilation of money managers in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw and Livingston counties. View Crain's List here.

The finalists were selected by a committee of judges for their commitment to personal health, dedication to their communities, and the unique definition of what fitness means to them. For six consecutive years The Center has been recognized as an American Heart Association Start! Fit-Friendly Company. For the most recent two years the firm received Platinum status, the highest recognition level. To achieve this award the health and wellness program met the following criteria:
• Physical activity options in the workplace
• Healthy eating options at the worksite
• Promotion of a wellness culture
• Implement at least nine criteria outlined by the AHA in the areas of physical activity, nutritition and culture
• Demonstrate measurable outcomes related to workplace wellness

Center Recognized as one of Michigan's Healthiest Employers
The Center was recognized as one of Michigan’s Healthiest Employers for the second consecutive year. Honorees were chosen from employers across Michigan whose policies and programs promote a healthy workforce. The Center took honors in the Metro Detroit Region competing with companies whose workforce size is between 5 and 99 employees.
The project was sponsored by Priority Health; data was collected by Indianapolis-based Healthiest Employer LLC. Crain's Detroit Business and MiBiz produced this promotional supplement as media sponsors of the project.
Investment Honor for Center Partner Melissa Joy
For the 3rd consecutive year, Partner Melissa Joy, CFP has been named to the Financial Advisor Magazine All-Star Research Managers team. She was featured in an article titled, “Uncommon Talents” written by Karen Demasters. The All-Star team recognized at the Fiduciary Gatekeeper Summit in Boston October 24-25.
Financial Advisor magazine recently asked its Financial Advisor readers to nominate the research managers they think are doing the best job. Selection for 2013 All-Star Research Managers team was based on those nominations.

Top 50 Women Owned RIA's in 2013
Marilyn Gunther, CFP® and The Center were named to REP’s Top 50 Women RIAs list for 2013.
Candidates had to meet the following requirements: they directly own at least 25 percent of their firm, and that their firm has no more than 50 percent institutional clients and have some individuals for whom they do financial planning. Also, none operate a broker/dealer or are affiliated with a bank or investment company.
REP.’s Top 50 Women RIAs list was assembled using data from SEC filings and Meridian-IQ (in which Penton Media has a stake). Advisors are ranked by their firm’s total assets under management.
2012 Best Financial Advisor in Medical Economics
Timothy Wyman, CFP®, JD was listed in Medical Economics November 10, 2012 as 2012 Best Financial Advisors for Doctors.
Candidates were selected to the list based upon client and peer references, strong recommendations from physicians, and an extensive background check. Applicants were also required to complete an extensive questionnaire listing credentials, educational background, noteworthy professional achievements, specific areas of expertise, and percentage of physician clients.

Center Partner Melissa Joy Tapped for All-Star Team
Melissa received national recognition last month as one of eight people picked by Financial Advisor and Private Wealth magazines for the Inaugural Research Manager All-Star Team. She was featured in an article titled "Making the Cut" in the January 2012 issue of Financial Advisor Magazine. "Melissa Joy doesn't take things at face value, especially when it comes to investing," the article said. "As a partner at the Center for Financial Planning...she digs beneath the surface of the investments her firm offers to get a good look at what's really under the hood."
As Director of Investments, Melissa has been able to do something she's always enjoyed. "I've loved research since my geeky days in high school debate. I am so fortunate to have found a profession where I can hone those research skills. I get to kick the tires of different investment options and discuss investing with numerous money managers on behalf of our firm and clients. Recognition like this was unexpected and is truly icing on the cake!"
Award was based on job function of the person evaluated, fund selections and evaluation process used, study of rejected fund examples, and evaluation of challenges faced in the job and actions taken to overcome those challenges. Evaluations were independently conducted by Financial Advisor Magazine.
