Clare Lilek joined The Center in September 2015 as our first ever Challenge Detroit Fellow. Challenge Detroit is a nonprofit organization that attracts innovative thinkers and professionals to the city of the Detroit to help with the revitalization efforts. Since the ending of the yearlong fellowship, Clare has remained at The Center and continues to bolster our social media presence, organize our charitable giving and staff volunteer time, as well as, serve our clients in the Client Service Department under various planners.
Clare graduated from the University of Michigan in 2014 with a Bachelor in the Arts in Women’s Studies and Spanish. After graduation, she lived in Lima, Peru for a year working for a nonprofit that focused on creating developmental projects alongside medical clinics for impoverished communities. Clare returned to the United States to work at The Center and with Challenge Detroit and continues her mission of positively impacting communities through her work.
Outside of The Center, you can find Clare exploring the city of Detroit where she lives, playing trivia, trying different restaurants, reading, or, perhaps even, traveling around the world.
